Ukraines Energy Sector Faces Its Biggest Crisis Yet

As part of its hybrid war strategy, Russia has been targeting Ukrainian grain silos, schools, hospitals, power plants, and more for two and a half years. Given the Kremlin’s failure to overrun Ukraine militarily, it has increasingly turned instead to making the country uninhabitable. This strategy isn’t new. But 2024 has seen wave after wave of basic infrastructure hit with previously unknown accuracy and ferocity. The biggest target is now the country’s power sector, and specifically, its ability to generate electricity.

Underwear Through History: Silly Vintage Photos of Unmentionables

January 19, 2015 10:00 AM EST Women’s clothes have a — mostly deserved — reputation for being more complicated than men’s. Accordingly, the cultural, social and business histories behind their garments can be fascinating. (Did you know that nylon stockings were once available only in Delaware?) But that doesn’t mean that the basics of Western menswear don’t have stories of their own. Take, for example, the humble item that has, for 80 years, been the foundation of many an outfit: briefs.

Watch the Throne Review: A Gold-Plated Luxury Vehicle, with a Message

The deluxe edition of Watch the Throne, Jay-Z and Kanye West's long-awaited collaboration is an hour and seven minutes of gold-plated social commentary. And I mean that literally: the packaging is made from gold mylar, unfolds into a cross and is embossed with images by Givenchy designer Riccardo Tisci. The opening track likens Kanye to Jesus (again) and includes the chorus, "What's a king to a god? / What's a god to a non-believer.

When Peter Met Homer: First Look at 'Family Guy''Simpsons' Crossover

A five-minute preview of the eagerly awaited crossover episode between The Simpsons and Family Guy aired at Comic-Con 2014 in San Diego on Sunday. The below clip of the episode, which will air as the premiere of Family Guy’s 13th season in late September, isn’t really enough to gauge how the hour-long special will turn out. The Griffins will somehow end up in Springfield; Peter Griffin and Homer Simpson will get along — they bond over donuts and beer — and then predictably won’t; Stewie will fawn over Bart’s antics.

AIR: Blimp Fleet | TIME

The six middle-sized blimps, off Lakehurst, N.J., looked as deceptively innocent as exploding cigars. They made up the first lighter-than-air squadron the Navy has sent aloft in World War II. Each of them was manned by a crew of eight and carried machine guns, light cannon, bombs, depth charges. Their job: to hunt enemy submarines and mines in U.S. coastal waters. Before the end of 1942, seven other blimp squadrons will take to the air.

The teenager was found dead late Saturday in the northwest of the country along the Rusizi river separating Burundi from the DR Congo, not far from his home village.
