Researchers Are Working on At-Home Tests for Lyme Disease

If there has been one silver lining to the COVID-19 pandemic, it’s been the rise of rapid self-tests, which provide results at home in minutes. Researchers are hard at work at developing similar tests for other diseases—including Lyme. Lyme disease is transmitted by the black-legged (or deer) tick and infects about 476,000 Americans each year. The faster those people can get treated with the antibiotics doxycycline or amoxicillin, the better their chances of having a short, mild case of the disease.

When Ronan Farrow’s bosses at NBC told him to stop reporting on Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein’s decades-long pattern of sexual abuse, he turned to some of NBC’s most powerful journalists for advice: Tom Brokaw and Matt Lauer. It was only after Farrow left NBC and won a Pulitzer Prize for the story on Weinstein he eventually took to the New Yorker that he found out his subject had pressured executives at NBC to pull the story, even enlisting a friend at the National Enquirer to head an investigation into the sexual improprieties of Lauer for leverage.

Tempur-Pedic Luxe Adapt Review 2024

As an avid cyclist, a tailor and pattern maker for film and television, and a journalist, I do many repetitive things that can cause neck and back pain. My tailoring and patterning career especially (which spans 34 years) has really wreaked havoc on my lower back. While I’m aware that some mattresses (and pillows) can help alleviate some back pain, I’ve always put off purchasing a new one. The one I used before being given the chance to test out the Tempur-Pedic Luxe Adapt was a 10-year-old traditional spring coil with pillow-top that probably cost a couple hundred dollars.

The 10 Worst Bob Dylan Songs

The album on which this unfortunate number appears, 1990’s Under the Red Sky, was dedicated to Bob Dylan’s then 4-year-old daughter. Yes, the album seems to have been inspired by his young child, but that doesn’t excuse lyrics like “Wiggle, wiggle like a bowl of soup” (or “pail of milk” or “ton of lead”). Under the Red Sky is largely viewed as one of Dylan’s worst albums; even he has admitted as much.

THE ADMINISTRATION: The Return of Ed Pauley

TIME September 15, 1947 12:00 AM GMT-4 When Harry Truman nominated his good friend, California Oilman Ed Pauley, to be Under Secretary of the Navy in January 1946, he got a rude shock. Senators, noting that the Navy buys great quantities of oil, were leary of Pauley’s behind-the-scenes activities in the great tidelands oil controversy and let it be known that they would refuse to confirm him. After six weeks of stormy hearings, Harry Truman withdrew the nomination.
