When Helen Hunt placed her drink order at a Starbucks on Monday, she was quickly identified by her barista without giving her name. Or rather, misidentified.
“Ordered my drink @Starbucks,” she wrote on Twitter. “Asked the barista if she wanted my name. She winked and said. “We gotcha.”
In the accompanying photo, Hunt shows the Barista had written the name “Jody” on the cup. Hunt hash-tagged the tweet “#JodieFoster.
Here Are Some of Barbara Bush's Most Memorable Quotes
Barbara Bush, the beloved former First Lady who passed away on Tuesday at the age of 92, was not one to mince her words.
She was widely known not just for her down-to earth wit but also her remarkable dedication to family — her five children nicknamed her “The Enforcer“. As the only other woman to have been both the wife and mother of U.S. presidents since Abigail Adams, the Bush matriarch cultivated a rich outlook on life.
How Bob Hope Set the Stage for Hollywood Activism
Vietnam was merely a blip on the radar screen for most Americans when Bob Hope made his first trip there, 50 years ago this December. During World War II, he had braved enemy bombing raids, harrowing plane flights and rough-hewn Army barracks in making his celebrated tours to entertain U.S. troops overseas. But he never faced more danger than when he ventured into the jungles of South Vietnam, where the war against a communist insurgency backed by North Vietnam was just heating up.
How Sarah J. Maas Built a Sprawling Fantasy Multiverse
It’s 9:30 on a freezing Monday night in January and there’s a line stretching down the block outside of the Book Club Bar in the East Village of Manhattan. The occasion: a midnight release party for fantasy author Sarah J. Maas’ new book, House of Flame and Shadow, the third entry in her Crescent City series. The twist—there’s always a twist where Maas is concerned—Maas is on her way to surprise the throng of almost exclusively female fans willing to wait in the cold for a chance to get their hands on her book the minute it becomes available.
How to Balance a Checkbook
Though paper checks aren’t quite as popular as they once were, the majority of Americans still report writing at least one check per year. Whether you rely exclusively on debit card and ACH transactions or still whip out the old checkbook from time to time, there is plenty of value to be found in balancing your checkbook—even if that practice is in name only.
By balancing your checkbook, you’re able to reconcile and track your finances and cash flow throughout the month, helping you to not only budget better but also to know exactly where your finances stand at any time.
I'm a Screenwriter. These AI Jokes Give Me Nightmares
My name is Simon Rich and I’m a screenwriter. I’ve never written an opinion piece before. I’ve always preferred to speak through my fictional characters, because they’re played by actors who are better looking. But I happen to be childhood friends with a scientist from OpenAI, and some of the stuff he’s shown me is so messed up that I felt the need to write this article. I hope you will take a few minutes to read it while picturing me as Paul Rudd.
Inside the Olympic Village at the Paris Games
TheOlympic Village building assigned to Spain sits adjacent to Italy’s apartments, along Rue Volta in the northern Paris suburb of Saint-Denis. Algerian flags are draped outside the windows of the bottom floors of Spain’s space: the two Olympic delegations, which include athletes, coaches, and some medical and other staff, are sharing digs. Hungary is housed right next door: “Success,” reads a banner that hangs down the nine-story structure, “is in us.
Investors support oil marketers' move to develop 30,000 gas stations
The support will help the oil marketers achieve the development of about 30,000 CNG stations across the country. According to the National President, of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, (IPMAN) Chinedu Okonkwo, the move to build 30,000 CNG stations was to cushion the effects of subsidy removal as it directly led to a hike in petroleum prices.
Justin Tucker misses extra point for the first time in his career and it came at the worst time poss
The Baltimore Ravens were right where they wanted to be. After getting the ball back down a touchdown, Joe Flacco and the Ravens offense drove the field for a potential game-tying score against the New Orleans Saints. With just 14 seconds remaining, Flacco found receiver John Brown in the end zone, and everyone prepared for overtime. ADVERTISEMENT
